Movember Pie Eating Challenge at the Shave Off

[ No Comments ] Posted on 11.26.08 under pie people

Movember Last year, serendipity stepped in and brought the Pie Company together with a group of our male friends who knew people who’d suffered from prostate cancer. By all accounts a disease which strikes at the very heart of being male. We were looking for a reason to have a pie eating challenge because it sounded like a bit of a laugh and the Movember Boys gave us the perfect reason.

It went so well that we’ve become firm fans of this charity and will do all we can to support the boys, so we’re cranking up the ovens again this year and packing up the stopwatch and the whistles and hustling over to the Park Tavern on Sunday. We’d love for you to join us in what will be a day full of laughs as the boys show their pie eating skills and then shave off a months worth of moustaches. Do come and join in. Sunday November 30th from 11.30am, wrapping up around 2pm. Find out more about Movember here…

UPDATE:  just for some fun:  I came across this article today while eating my lunch about the place in fashion of the ‘Tache.  I wonder - will any of the Movember boys buck the trend and leave their new facial hair IN PLACE???

We’ve given our security guards Pumpkin Pie so if you tell them you’re looking for us they’ll no doubt smile and ask you if you’re celebrating the American Holiday before pointing you toward our door!

If you’re coming by taxi tell the driver “Dong Hu Bin Guan” (map) and walk a minute toward Fumin Road from there.

Deliveries for the Pumpkin Pies are now full, but you can still order to pick up from us.

See you soon - and Happy Holidays. With all these visitors stopping by and the fruit mince pies we’ve started munching on already, it’s beginning to feel alot like Christmas down at Pie HQ!

Pumpkin Pie, or is it Numkin Pie?

Pumpkin PieLook what’s just come out of our ovens! Pumpkin Pie…

Light, fluffy custardy pumpkin that’s sweet but not too sweet and after some fiddling, just the right amount of spice. Well - our American friends (you know who you are missy) tell us that. Because well, Pumpkin Pie is not really an Australian thing. It’s American. For Thanksgiving. But we try our best to please and are pretty certain that if a Pumpkin Pie is what you’re starting to think about at this time of year then you’re going to be pretty pleased to find ours.

From next week we’ll have an online order form. But if you want to get in early, email us at hello at shanghaipie.com. We’re doing large size family pies. Pre-order it before November 24th for Thanksgiving Thursday on the 27th. As soon as Chef Nick has finished the pricing we’ll put that online too. Yum!

Social Team Back On Top…

[ No Comments ] Posted on 10.14.08 under pie people

It’s well done again Doggies. This time, our pies powered the social league team to victory…

We’re very sad to hear though that it was to be Ryan Saling’s last game of cricket in the ‘Hai though.   But it’s not all bad, The Dogs took 9 catches on the day, an amazing accomplishment  and a great end to the season for the Social Hot Dogs.  The Cricketers now have a chance for the Shanghai treble with the League side facing off against the Devils on November 2.

But before we send you over to their blog for the blow by blow account of the match, we must point out the Man of the Match,  Anoop Sangwan.  He pulled great figures of  3-5-3 and was in the middle at the end to see the side home with the bat.  And from the whole team “Simply  great fielding yet again and going to show that catches indeed do win matches.!”  Check the full post here

The Pie Of Champions

[ No Comments ] Posted on 09.30.08 under pie people

Saturday and Sunday were big days for the cricketers in China. Swervin’ Merv Hughes was on the fixture, along with Ian Healy, Ian Botham and Allan Lamb. The Dulwich Oval was decked in finery and Slice put on a magnificent spread for the VIP’s. But it was the HotDogs who were defending their title… So, the Shanghai Pie Company did what it does; feeding our boys with the best pies in China!

It’s late in the Cricket Season, but better late than never to announce the Shanghai Pie Company sponsorship of “Our Boys”! We got out to the cricket last weekend to cheer the boys on and make sure they were well fed for the annual Cricket Sixes Tournament. They had a job to do: Defend the title, and defend they did. Beating the competition for the Fourth Time. So it is true then, that we do truly provide “The Pie Of Champions”! On you Boys!

We’ll be back again at the Dulwich College Pitch in Pudong on October 12th supporting the boys. : ) In the meantime, have a look at some more of the pictures in my flickr album… You might also want to check out the team account of the game at their blog: http://dprhotdogs.blogspot.com/

kiosk.jpgAfter a long hiatus, and a big renovation, the Shanghai Centre Market returns this weekend. We’re excited not only because of the new and improved venue, but because it gives us the opportunity to see YOU again!

Yep, we love getting the chance to chat to all our customers; so please, do come on down. We’ll be sporting our new look kiosk for the event to keep up with the joneses so to speak - well at least the Shanghai Centre anyway. And while it won’t look exactly like this, it’ll be somewhat similar. The photo was taken recently at the Eason Chan concert at the Shanghai Stadium.

See you Sunday. From 9am til noon at the Shanghai Centre on Nanjing Xi Lu. We’ll be serving hot pies :)

Some Days Are Better Than Others.

happyWhen everybody returns from holiday’s and they’re all smiling, it’s one of those better days. We’re in for a string of them at Pie HQ. The sun is shining, deals are being done and pies are more available - which means everybody has got things to do and is filled with energy.

Just before the holiday the first lot of pies was delivered to Elders for them to stock up their fabulous freezers for our home delivery service. So now it means that all those Aussies and Kiwi’s, Englishmen and anyone else out there in the provinces can get some home comfort in a chiller box.

Happy Days!
